Mental Health Support for Private Clients
Don’t just exist. Live your life to the full. At any point in our lives we face difficulties and can struggle to cope with life’s pressures. If things persist, you can lose self-confidence or feel depressed or low.
It’s a fact that 1 in 4 of us will experience some kind of mental health problem in our lives, so it’s not uncommon to have these feelings. You might be struggling with a bereavement or a family issue, or you might simply be feeling low or not yourself. Ignoring the issues won’t help – in fact, they could get worse – so the first step is to talk to someone who will listen, be impartial and help you get back on track.
Counselling allows you to talk about your problems and feelings, whatever they may be, in a confidential and calm environment. Our counsellors are trained to help you come to terms with the issues holding you back in your life and inspire you to come up with solutions that you can manage.
We have a broad range of counsellors, and you’ll be matched with one who fits your exact needs. During your sessions, your counsellor will listen to your issues or concerns, talk through the options available to you, and help you to decide on the best outcomes for you.
You don't have to come into our offices to access counselling - we are providing counselling on Teams or over the telephone to make it easier for you to access where ever you are.
Counselling with NECS costs £45 per session for individuals and £50 per session for couples.
NB. From the 1st of October 2023 there will be a price increase and NECS sessions will cost £50 per session for individuals and £60 per session for couples.
This has been a very difficult decision to make and although we have tried our utmost to keep expenses low, our operating costs have increased significantly due to recent global factors.
We may be able to offer adult individual sessions at £25 subject to suitability and availability for more information please visit our counselling for adults page.

We want to get you the right help as quickly as possible, and to make this help as affordable as we can. Waiting for months to see a therapist can often make the situation worse so we aim to get you in for your first appointment WITHIN ONE WEEK of hearing from you.
Who is counselling for?
Counselling is for anyone who feels that they don't know where to turn next. Maybe you have had lots of negative thoughts, or you are feeling really anxious. Or you really don't like yourself right now and you think you've let everyone down.
Counselling can really help you to separate your muddled feelings and start to see the path you need to be on.
Lots of people think that counselling isn't for them, and indeed, counselling isn't right for everyone. That's why our first appointment is an assessment which helps us to understand you and for you to see if counselling can work for you.
NECS can provide you with counselling for adults, couples and children from age 4+
How does counselling work at NECS?
- You contact us to book your first appointment, which we’ll aim to schedule in within a week.
- During your first appointment, we’ll get to know you and understand the issues you’re going through.
- We’ll then match you to the counsellor who best fits your needs for your sessions going forward.
- You’ll then work one-on-one with your counsellor for however long you choose to help you through your mental health issues.
We know that the way you feel about your counsellor is one of the most important parts of counselling. If you don't feel you can open up to your counsellor the process won't work. We've got counsellors of all ages, genders and backgrounds so we are bound to have someone you will work well with.
