Helping you to help your child

NECS understand that improving children's mental wellbeing is important.  50% of all adult mental health problems start before the age of 14 and 75% start before the age of 21.  Improving the mental wellbeing of children can improve the mental wellbeing of the entire population.

We can provide private counselling to children and young people aged 4+ (aged 11+ for online counselling).  You can refer your child for counselling using the link below (it costs £40/session) and we aim to get a first appointment within 7 days.

If you feel counselling might not be right for your child at the moment, we've got lots of free resources to help you right now.

Helping boys who are angry

Lots of parents are faced with angry sons, whatever their age.  If it has come out of nowhere or it's been there for a long time, it can be difficult to know how to react.

This article from our colleagues at Place2be will help you to understand where the anger might be coming from.  It also gives you some techniques to use when the anger happens.

With the support of their parent or carer boys can learn to use positive coping strategies when they face a difficulty.

It will also help you to understand what is causing them to be angry and improve family communication.
