Don’t just exist. Live your life to the full.
At any point in our lives we face difficulties and can struggle to cope with life’s pressures. If things persist, you can lose self-confidence or feel depressed or low.
It’s a fact that 1 in 4 of us will experience some kind of mental health problem in our lives, so it’s not uncommon to have these feelings. You might be struggling with a bereavement or a family issue, or you might simply be feeling low or not yourself. Ignoring the issues won’t help – in fact, they could get worse – so the first step is to talk to someone who will listen, be impartial and help you get back on track.
Counselling allows you to talk about your problems and feelings, whatever they may be, in a confidential and calm environment.
Our counsellors are trained to help you come to terms with the issues holding you back in your life and inspire you to come up with solutions that you can manage.
At NECS, we have a broad range of counsellors, and you’ll be matched with one who fits your exact needs. During your sessions, your counsellor will listen to your issues or concerns, talk through the options available to you, and help you to decide on the best outcomes for you.
Who is counselling for?
Going into counselling can feel like a big step, but it really shouldn’t. Going through mental health struggles is completely normal – in fact, 1 in 4 of us will experience some kind of mental health problem at some point in our lives.
Counselling is for anyone who isn’t feeling themselves, whether you’re going through a low you can’t seem to get out of, you’re feeling anxious, or you’re struggling to deal with personal or professional issues and they’re starting to affect your mental wellbeing.
Whatever issue you’re going through, you don’t have to go through it alone. Our counsellors are experts in helping you through whatever mental health problem that’s affecting you, and everything you tell us will remain completely confidential.
How individual counselling works
We understand that choosing to go into counselling can feel like you’re taking a big leap, but we’re here to make the process as comfortable as possible for you every step of the way.
Here’s how counselling works here at NECS:
- You contact us to book your first appointment, which we’ll aim to schedule in within a week.
- During your first appointment, we’ll get to know you and understand the issues you’re going through. We’ll then match you to the counsellor who best fits your needs for your sessions going forward.
- You’ll then work one-on-one with your counsellor for however long you choose to help you through your mental health issues.

We provide counselling to a broad range of people
NECS can work with children as young as 4. Young children can be anxious because of conflict at home or if their parents break up for example. Our counsellors use a wide variety of play therapy techniques to understand what is going on.
There are many common psychological and emotional conditions with which clients can present including anxiety, abuse, stress, agoraphobia, low self-esteem, depression, grief, panic attacks, alcohol misuse, paranoia, and even suicidal thoughts.
Most of us experience problems at times in our life. If they become big problems and start to affect your life, counselling can help you get the thoughts that are whizzing round your head into some sort of order and help you decide what to do.
