NECS supports The Mental Health Foundation with this year’s Mental Health Awareness Campaign, 8-14 May
The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘surviving to thriving’ as many of us are seemingly struggling with life’s pressures such as keeping your job, paying the bills and managing our family life. This year, rather than asking why so many people are living with mental health problems, the campaign will seek to uncover why too few of us are thriving with good mental health.
At North East Counselling Services (NECS) we’ve supported over 9,000 individuals to help them “live their life and not just exist.” Our qualified counsellors have helped adults, families, children and young people, veterans and their families, carers in Gateshead, and couples to tackle the key issues that can cause a mental health issue and help them to become more resilient.
North East Counselling Services was founded in July 2006 by carers as a result of personal experience. Since its foundation, North East Counselling Services has provided counselling and therapy to over 9,000 clients in and around Gateshead and South Tyneside.
We have worked to help with a variety of challenges including
- stress related disorders
- family issues
- low mood
- attachment issues
- suicidal thoughts
- work issues
- suicidal thoughts
- self harm
Clients have included carers, ex-service personnel and other ‘hard to reach’ groups such as children and young people (through our outreach work in schools). The vast majority of our clients report a great improvement in how they feel.
• 91% of our clients have said that counselling helped them.
• 98% of our clients said that they would use us again if they needed to
• 98% of our clients would recommend us to a friend
North East Counselling Services aims to banish health and social care inequalities. Our service is preventative, lessening the impact on traditional healthcare providers and organisations and ensuring individuals receive the emotional care they require.
North East Counselling Services believes that counselling is a process by which people of all ages are helped to gain fresh insight, to have a different perspective and to find motivation. Over a series of one to one sessions in a confidential and supportive setting, counselling can help you make changes in your life. Counselling facilitates the sharing of thoughts and feelings. It aids the process of empowering people to discover their own answers and to feel more in control of their own life and relationships.
