Hi I'm Bec, I joined NECS in 2013, as a trainee placement counsellor working with adults.

I qualified in 2014 and worked for NECS as both a volunteer counsellor and an associate counsellor, before becoming a contracted counsellor working with young people, adults, couples and groups.

I have experience of supporting people to work through a wide range of issues including, loss, grief, abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, existential crisis, suicidal thoughts, relationship issues and work-related issues.

I am a humanistic counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. My core modality is Person Centred. I work with a focus on the quality of the relationship, with particular attention to building and maintaining a safe and nurturing space.

Key to my practice is that it is trauma informed. My approach is integrative, meaning that if it will be of benefit, I sometimes use different types of therapy such as Gestalt, Compassion Focused Therapy and some Psycho-education in addition to my core model. I have a particular interest in how issues can play out in our bodies as well as our minds.

Outside of the counselling room I can often be found in muddy wellies or walking boots with my dog in a hilly woodland and I adore wild swimming. I am also keen to learn all things wellbeing and if I don’t have my head buried in a psychology book, I'll be taking part in a group wellbeing or personal development activity or practice.
