NECS have been providing counselling since 2006 across the North East. Over the years we have expanded the work we do. We now deliver counselling to children aged 4+, individual adults and couples. We also provide a mixture of face to face, zoom and telephone counselling.
Our vision is to create a world where counselling is affordable and accessible to anyone who needs it.
We aim to provide the highest quality counselling to all of our clients. We recognise that our clinical team is the heart of what we do. We are always working to develop our clinical team - either by bringing in counsellors with particular experience, or giving newly trained counsellors an opportunity to develop their skills.
We recruit new counsellors or supervisors to NECS as follows:
Because of the impact of the pandemic and lock-down, we have taken the difficult decision not to offer placements for the year 2021/22. This will enable us to ensure that those people who secured a placement last year can complete their 100 hours.
Please don't send any CV's for placements for this year or any speculative requests for 2022/23. All CV's will be deleted and not kept on file.
We will put instructions for placement applications on our website next year.
NECS recognise that a career as a counsellor isn't easy. We want to help newly qualified counsellors and those who have been out of counselling for a while to build their confidence and start on their career path.
We welcome applications from counsellors who would like a 50 hour supervised placement. You will not be paid for the counselling sessions you deliver on placement, but your supervision will be provided free of charge and we will provide clients and accommodation.
Once you have completed this placement you will be eligible to apply for a position as a sessional counsellor with NECS.
If you are interested in a placement as an experienced counsellor you can apply at any time.
As our business grows, we will sometimes have the need to work with counsellors who can deliver counselling sessions on our behalf.
If you are a self-employed experienced counsellor looking for some extra counselling hours, we may be able to help.
Current specialities we are looking for include:
- Children and young people's counselling
- Working with trauma
- Bereavement counselling
- Couples counselling
This is not an exhaustive list, so please get in touch if you have any questions.
We are keen to hear from counsellors who have a range of skills, can provide current references and are willing to deliver counselling outside of normal office hours, including weekends.
Our sessional counsellors are self-employed and are paid £20/hour. We provide free supervision for the NECS clients you work with, accommodation and clients. We work with a client management database for our appointments and to keep our client data secure, so you must be comfortable working in this way.
Being a sessional counsellor with NECS also allows you to apply for any contract counselling opportunities that arise.
